The right paper for your art

Aside from art mediums, Koh-i-noor Hardtmuth also offers foundation materials for your artworks creation, i.e., canvas and paper sheets of all kinds.

In this article, we take a look at the assortment of paper, which has expanded in recent years.


Every proper artist should have his sketchbook always at his fingertips so he could anytime record his ideas and notes concerning his creation. In our stores and online, you find several types of sketchbooks. They differ mainly in the number of sheets, paper density, and binding that can be either glued or have a spiral-bound. As for the grammage, you can choose from sketchbooks with 120 gsm, 140 gsm, or even 180 gsm sheets.

The sketchbooks mentioned above are available in glued binding with 90 gsm sheets.


A special drawing notepad, designed according to the properties of the individual medium, will come in handy for the realization of elaborated sketches and pictures. For example, the Pop Aquarelle notepad is suitable for the aquarelle technique and is available in A4, A3, and A2 formats. In case you've just started working with aquarelle, you can use a notepad with pre-printed motifs.

Drawing cardboards can be purchased in a glued binding version or a set containing several separate sheets. GMS of drawing cardboards range from 180 gsm to 250 gsm.
