Versatile, a treasure made in Czechia

Versatil mechanical pencils are one of the inventions of KOH-I-NOOR HARDTMUTH.

They were first made in 1950, and everyone had to have one as soon as they hit the market.

The name of this practical drawing tool is derived from the word versatile wh perfectly characterizes this drawing tool. It is actually a mechanical clutch leadholder of various diameters, gradations and colors, at the end of which there is often a practical sharpener.

How does this mechanical pencil work?

The lead inside the Versatil pencil moves in the tilted position by simply pressing the end of this holder. It is a similar principle as an ordinary pen works. This would open the collet and release the lead inside.

How to choose the right Versatil pencil?

You can find a large number of Versatil pencils and graphite leads in the KOH-I-NOOR HARDTMUTH offer. You can choose from plastic, metal, wooden cases or combinations of mentioned materials.

The mechanical pencils or mechanical clutch leadholders are divided according to the diameter of the pencil. In our e-shop you can find pencils up to 1 mm, 3 mm and over 3 mm in size. Pencils with the smallest lead diameter are suitable for drawing or writing. Those with a diameter over 3 mm are suitable for artistic drawing and are also divided according to gradations into 2B, 4B and 6B.

Leads for mechanical clutch leadholders are also available in various colors. You might be interested in leads in metallic shades or even the whole set including a mechanical clutch leadholder. In addition to classic colored pencils, you can also use the popular Magic collection to draw with Versatil pencil, whose leads are multicolored.

A drawing made with the help of Versatil pencils can be very easily erased with kneaded eraser. There are the same quality leads as the ones in graphite pencils.
